Dear Reader,

When I started ResultsLab, I knew I wanted to run a business with a double bottom line – verifiable social impact as well as financial sustainability. At the time, I didn’t know what that was called, that there was a larger movement to ‘use business as a force for good’ nor that there was an entity that could certify this.

In the early years of ResultsLab, we were co-officing with a Denver based investment firm and foundation, Gary Community Ventures. In that same office, there was also staff from an organization named B Lab, the nonprofit behind the B Corp
certification. My office mates told me how businesses that practice a set of standards related to social, environmental, and governance practices can become certified, and they told me about the growing B Corp movement - changing our economic system towards one that is more inclusive, equitable and regenerative.

I was inspired, and determined that one day ResultsLab would become a B Corp. I read through the certifying assessment, and the rigorous requirements to become certified. In those early years, I wondered when we would be established enough to meet these high standards.

I'm excited to say that day has come. Results Lab is a Certified B Corp™!

As I’ve reflected on our assessment, and the process to become certified, I’m reminded that this is just one step further along an ongoing journey. By no means is it the end. We must constantly be examining our impact and continuously working towards improvement. The B Corp certification has served as a tool to not only further this conversation for our own organization and what we are doing, but also provides an opportunity to reflect and learn from other B Corps. I’m excited for what we’ve done, and for what we have to learn.
